In mid-1998, Sprint approached Sports & Sponsorships about the upcoming Super Bowl in Miami and our desire to conduct activities that would heighten Sprint's presence in South Florida.
As an NFL sponsor, Sprint wanted to cement the link between our company, our local Sprint PCS stores, and this huge NFL activity.
Sports & Sponsorships came back with several concepts for our Super Bowl program, all of which had merit.
Their recommended approach was well thought-out, strategic, unique (so as to break through the clutter of other Super Bowl promotions), and affordable. And, the plan was so thorough that all we had to do was basically say "yes."
Not surprisingly, we agreed to implement their recommended program.
The end result was a truly unique presence in South Florida that pre-empted many other local sponsor activities and provided incremental store traffic and sales at an important time (after the holidays) for our Sprint PCS retailers.
The promotion was a definite success and a highlight of Sprint's NFL sponsorship."
